Come Thou Fount

A woodwind quintet with optional and Bass Clarinet parts. The introduction presents a “little Haydn” for variety and then breaks into the title theme in the upper voices supported by contrapuntal lines in the middle voices concluding with a lower voice motif from the introduction. The second section presents the theme in the bass line with simple punctuations in the upper voices where it all breaks open with memories of the introduction. With a change of meter the theme is now in the clarinet and bass line with flourishes in the upper lines. The roles are now flipped leading into lines reminiscent of earlier sections. The piece now returns to the original meter which leads into a key modulation where the tune is in unison with occasional flourishes. The piece comes to a vibrant ending tossing around motifs earlier found.
